Church of Agios Andreas
Description
The present Holy Temple is said to be the work of the German architect Ern. Ziller, but it may be the work of the Greek architect Theodoros Diamantopoulos and dates back to April 1893. The rhythm of the Holy Temple is Royal cruciform or cruciform, stone-built with ceramic decoration on the gables (with serrated patterns on the gabled walls). The bell towers have ceramic shields perforated in the shape of a circle with transverse crosses. To the south of the church, in the marble doors, the names of the benefactor Elias Vavalis are mentioned, dating to 1898, and on the north side of the church, there is another door in which the name of the other great benefactor, Konstantinos N. Karvelas, dating to 1893, is mentioned.
The icons of the iconostasis are made by well-known hagiographers such as: Konstantinos Fanellis, by monks of the Skete of Ag. Annie of Mount Athos but also by Stathopoulos, while the Pantocrator Jesus Christ was created by the hand of Demetrius K. Fanellis. All these years various hagiographers, such as Dellas, N. Andreadis <./ strong> etc., have created the pansevasmic relics of saints which the Holy Temple has the honor to possess, like Saints Theodore of Tyrone and Theodore of Stratilatos, a small fragment of one of the 14,000 thousand infants recruited by Herod, Saint Nektarios, Bishop of Pentapolis the miracle worker, Saint Hieromartyr Agios Vlasios, Saint Hieromartyr Vlasius New martyr George of Ioannina.
