The “Aegio Choir 1933” was founded in 1933 and is one of the oldest choirs in our country. The activity of the choir includes concerts, participation in festivals in Greece and abroad and in all kinds of events related to choral song. Her repertoire includes works of every style and genre.
In 1989 the artistic direction was taken over by the current conductor Mr. Leonidas Charalambopoulos, opening the artistic horizons of the choir, with a new and demanding repertoire, utilizing the potential of soloists, founding a lyric stage (uploads operetta, opera, etc.) , male section, small polyphonic band, (medieval, renaissance, baroque music).
Since 1989, the choir has collaborated with symphony orchestras, as well as with the wind soloists of the Athens State Orchestra, participated in choral festivals in Greece, has given performances together with soloists of the National Opera, has given a series of concerts in Cyprus (Nicosia- Larnaca), Bulgaria (Plovdiv), Serbia (Belgrade), Hungary (Budapest), Italy (Udine), Belgium (Brussels), Spain (Madrid), France (Borto-Arkasson), Germany (Berlin).
Every year it organizes the Aigio Choir Festival with the participation of Greek and foreign choirs.
In 1992, sent by the Ministry of Culture, she represented Greece at the “Christmas in the heart of Europe” celebrations of the EEC member states, which took place in Brussels.
The Choir is a member of the Greek Choir Association.
